John H. Maynard joined the Litigation Department in the firms Helena office in 1998.  Mr. Maynard has been a trial attorney since 1979.  He is a former law clerk for the Montana Supreme Court and a former Assistant Attorney General for the State of Montana.  He is also the former administrator of the tort claims division and chief defense counsel for the State of Montana.  He has been in private practice since 1990.  Mr. Maynard earned a law degree from the University of Montana School of Law and is a graduate of several advanced programs sponsored by the National Institute of Trial Advocacy.  Mr. Maynards principal area of practice is insurance defense, including medical malpractice, product liability, governmental, constitutional and tort law.  He is admitted to practice in state and federal courts in Montana, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.  He is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Montana, Montana Defense Trial Lawyers Association, International Association of Defense Counsel, and Defense Research Institute.
