Gary Broeder graduated with honors from the University of Montana School of Law in 1974. He was the Editor in Chief of the Montana Law Review during his third year of law school. Since 1974, he has been engaged in private practice in Billings, Montana, primarily in the area of oil and gas law, including title examinations, property acquisitions and divestitures, and representation of clients before regulatory agencies.

He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the specialties of Energy Law, Natural Resources Law and Oil & Gas Law. He joined the firm in 2006, and practices in the Natural Resources Department in the Billings office.
