Daniel (Dan) N. McLean
Daniel (Dan) N. McLean joined the firm in 1981 after serving as a federal clerk to the late U.S. District Judge William J. Jameson. His principal areas of practice involve estate planning, trusts, gift and estate taxes, and estate and trust administration. He has a broad range of experience in closely held corporations and commercial and real estate transactions. Mr. McLean has special expertise in elder law issues including health care advance directives, guardianships and conservatorships, Medicaid and related areas. Mr. McLean is past president of the Yellowstone Valley Estate Planning Council, past chair of the Tax and Probate Section of the State Bar of Montana, past president of the First Judicial District (Montana) Bar Association and a former vice-chair of the Elder Law Committee of the American Bar Association General Practice Section. He currently serves as a Trustee of the State Bar of Montana, and as liaison to the State Bar Elderly Assistance Committee. Mr. McLean serves as director on the boards of Montana Legal Services Association and Lewis and Clark County Community Foundation. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC), a former member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), and frequently speaks on estate planning topics and charitable giving throughout Montana. Mr. McLean is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the areas of Trusts and Estates.
